GIF Sundsvall secured a vital Superettan victory with a dramatic late comeback against Ljungskile at NP3 Arena. The team overturned a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2 thanks to a 91st-minute winner.

Elvis Hansson started the fightback with a goal in the 57th minute. Eron Gojani equalised from the penalty spot in the 86th after being fouled in the box. Then came the decisive moment when Taiki Kagayama struck to make it 3-2 and secure three points.

The win gives GIF Sundsvall, who sit 16th with 19 points, a small buffer in the relegation battle. The team is now on a run of three wins from their last four matches ahead of a tough away fixture against league leaders IFK Norrköping on October 11th.

Match-winner Taiki Kagayama said after the game that the team refuses to give up. "People say we will go down. But that's not true. We are still alive and have not given up," he stated. He also added that he hopes to secure a contract with the club.

The match against Ljungskile was a direct clash at the bottom of the Superettan and the victory carries significant psychological weight. GIF Sundsvall showed fighting spirit and a willingness to battle until the final whistle, a trait that will be essential in the final stages of the season. Their next challenge is away to the top-of-the-table side Norrköping in just over two weeks.
